So, I am on the home stretch for my Holiday Knitting. Just one more week remains and I still have about 5 or 6 things I want to get done.
I don’t know why I put the pressure on myself every year at this time.
Last year I started a bulky knit afghan for my son and his girlfriend in February. It was still fresh in my mind then that things take time to get finished. I had every intention of finishing it by June or July and imagined it folded nicely in its box waiting for Christmas. But alas, it didn’t quite happen that way. It sat there, alright, neglected and hopeless until last week. I had only compelted about 8 inches in February, so I really had to put on the Knit Speed this past week to get her done. When will I ever learn? But it is done now, with a week to spare!
I knit this on US 13s with double strand of worsted yarn. The design is entirely my own and includes the Irish Cable that I love so very much and try to incorporate within many of my projects. The texture and movement with in this afghan speak for itself. And it is soft, cuddly and machine washable!
I managed to work up a couple felted booties this week as well.. one for each of my grandsons: Green for Warren and Blue for Gavin.
Now off to the final home stretch. I told my husband I was going to put down the needles on Sunday night and not pick them up again until after Christmas. So what gets done, gets done. What doesn’t, doesn’t. I will spend Christmas Eve day baking, wrapping and getting all the little details completed. I can’t wait for my family to get home and for the new little grandbaby to arrive.
How are your projects coming along?
